If you’re not sure what to wear, I suggest that you just wear a baby. On your head.

Keep it Simple!

The best piece of advice that I have for anyone who is wondering what to wear for their family photos is to keep it simple! Avoid busy patterns (even tight gingham patterns can cause issues in-camera). I suggest that everyone dress within the same colour family, but not matchy-matchy. For example, some tones that work beautifully together are denim, cream, light grey, pink, and light blue or green.

For outdoor sessions, consider wearing colours that compliment the season. For summer, consider lighter tones. For the autumn, consider deeper tones like a rich mustard or deep green.

Always always ALWAYS avoid wearing black, unless you are shooting indoors in a bright space. Don’t be mad at me - I know you wanted to wear black. But you shouldn’t. So put that black dress back in the closet!

What to Wear for your Maternity Session

My Philosophy for maternity sessions is to be comfortable, but avoid wearing anything loose. Fitted items are best because the natural curves of your body during this time are beautiful! If you wear clothing that is too baggy, often you can end up looking a tad shapeless. I recommend that you bring a tank top and a pair of full-back (but cute!) undies, a body-hugging dress, and anything that makes you feel great. Don’t be afraid to pack more than you think you should - we can review your outfits at the beginning of the session, and see what works best!

You do not need to show your bare belly (or bare anything) during your shoot, but you are more than welcome to dance naked anytime! In fact, I highly recommend it!
